Bio

Llama Tsunami began skanking in 2008, and nourished by the hearty bread they consumed, the band quickly became a nonstop dance machine! Get ready for danceable beats, catchy horn lines, and a ton of fun!

A nine piece ska band based in New London County, they believe that their music and live shows are all about having a good time. Their style originates from the usual suspects of the genre yet their extremely diverse individual tastes give each arrangement something new to offer. The message is simple: Get over yourself and dance… seriously.

Playing since their inception all over the place, the band has developed a strong and dedicated fan base, recently winning the regional Shure Give It Voice battle of the bands at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston and taking the national round, earning them a slot at the RedGorilla Music Festival in Austin during SXSW. They have been booked with bands such as The Toasters, Sonic Boom 6, We Are Scientists, Mates of State, Tip the Van, Bigger Thomas, and many other great acts.

Their 2010 album “Get Serious” captures the essence of the band’s primary message. The title of the album is both ironic and fitting. In a way, it mocks those who take themselves far too seriously and are unable to laugh at a joke at their own expense, but it also recognizes the necessity for dedication. As the band’s first full length studio album, it offers their light-hearted approach to songwriting and tempers that with more mature songs with a deeper message. There is something for everyone on this album, but in the end the album is simply lots of fun. As the band says:

“We play ska. Some people don’t like us because apparently ska isn’t fun anymore. We beg to differ.”
